[Today after school, Squid Girl can be found bustling about in the front yard of 452 Stone Street.  She's got the hose out, and is diligently spraying jets of water at the front door of the house.  Every so often, she fills up a nearby bucket and throws the water at one of the windows.]

"C'mon, freeze!  What am I doing wrong!"

It takes quite a while for water to freeze, you know.

But I don't think the humans here would attack you, especially not so close to the holidays. It's supposed to be a peaceful time of year.

Well then, how about this?

[Splash scoops up a handful of snow, packs it tightly, and holds it out in front of her. Voila! It's an ice ball.]

I've seen some of the children building things from snow like this. It's much faster than using a hose.

No, nothing like that. But I think making a wall like this would provide an excellent defense, don't you?

Ah, but then you would be unable to go back inside. How about we build around the house instead?

"But if I don't protect the door, anyone can just walk right in anyway!"

[HMMMMMM. Now she's thinking about this. Using all of her amazing squidlike brainpower.]

"So how do I protect the house without barricading myself in?"

[Drat. She was hoping to keep Squid Girl's mind off defending the fort by with playing with her in the snow. On to Plan B, then.]

I have an idea. Tell me, what is the most frightening sea creature you can think of? One that a human wouldn't ever want to come near?

"A shark! They're definitely the scariest."

[She's even shivering a little just thinking about it.]

Now, if you came across a house with a shark right outside, you certainly wouldn't want to go near it, right?

Then why don't we build a huge, fearsome shark out of ice? That way, you can ward off attackers without blocking your front door.
