[Hey look, a certain denizen of the ocean finally figured out how to use the telephone after almost an entire month of living in Mayfield! Squid Girl's voice comes ringing over the lines loud and clear, and also completely unfiltered. Hey, let's not ask for miracles, okay? It's amazing she even made it this far on her own. Anyway, she's excited as heck, and about to make a huge announcement.]

"Attention, people of Mayfield! This is Squid Girl speaking! I am pleased to announce that I have just formed an unofficial alliance with the nation of Taiwan - it's called the Squid Girl-Taiwanese Unofficial Alliance! I've also been informed that there's no ocean here to pollute, so I've decided to protect whatever water there is in Mayfield, starting with that pond in the park! If you pollute it, you'll have to answer to both me and my new ally! And if anyone messes with one of us, you'll now have to fight us both! So do the smart thing and give up now - there's no way you'll be able to resist our combined powers!"

[At this point, there's a few seconds of silence. She's trying to think of something cool to say to wrap this thing up.]

"...That is all!"

Sure thing! I'll start working on them in a bit. _{[ brb borrowing drone kids' crayons!? ]} You can come over!

"Okay! I'll be right over!"

[It actually takes her a while, because she's not that great a reader and the houses all look the same. But eventually she's knocking on Taiwan's door.]

_{[ opens the door - she waves at her with a hand soiled with inks and paint ]}

It's Squid Girl! Come in, I have some markers and extra paper in the living room.

_{[ Taiwan's already started, by the looks of it. There are papers and coloring materials all over the coffee table in the living room. The posters she has so far have cute ocean-themed mascots and Engrish slogans like "Protect Environments Love" and "Let's Cleaning! Fight!!" ]}

"Ooooooh... these look really good! I bet lots of people will pay attention to us now!"

[She of course wastes no time getting straight to work herself, grabbing some markers and drawing pictures of squid and jellyfish and shrimp and lobster. It looks like a little kid's art, but that probably just enhances the effect of making this whole thing totally adorable.]

_{[ Taiwan looks over her shoulder and watches her draw for a bit. She chuckles - their moe moe factor can't possibly fail! ]}

If we want to make a good environment protection program, we need all the publicity we can get. I was thinking of making a mascot to go along with it. _{[ Because everyone and their mother needs a cute mascot in Taiwan, okay. She starts drawing on a new piece of paper with her No. 2 pencil. The mascot looks a lot like her new ally... ]}

[It's okay, Squid Girl is totally used to having her image borrowed for publicity purposes. And Taiwan's drawing is a lot cuter than the horrible giant mascot heads that one guy from the other beach was using. She seems to approve!]

"Hey, that looks like me! Am I the mascot?"

Uh huh. Ooh, but you need a costume.

_{[ Starts drawing her in a magical girl-inspired costume. Think Pretty Cure. ]}

And a pet.

_{[ Because all mascots have pets. Draws a cute little lobster on the side. ]}

[Pretty Cure fuck yeah the mun loves that show~ She looks pretty excited about it too!]

"Can the costume be blue and white? Oh, oh, and give the lobster a cute ribbon!"

[Eagerly leaning over her shoulder and pointing at the page.]

Mm, you can be like Cure Marine. Oh, but Coffret would be a cute lobster instead. Even if he doesn't give Squid Girl any powers, if anyone pollutes the ocean, he can get really mad, too, you know! _{[ Draws the cute ribbon in. ]} Of course, that's just for publicity. _{[ Then she gets a blue marker to color her costume in. ]}

But we have to have good ideas once we get everyone's attention.

"Lobsters can be pretty strong! And they're delicious, too! He'll be a perfect sidekick!"

[But then she folds her arms and starts thinking hard about this whole 'good ideas' thing.]

"Ideas, huh..."

Yeah! Like, people won't listen unless you've got a sound plan and stuff. So you've got to compromise with them or whatever. Um... like... "if you work hard enough to protect the water, we'll get you out of Mayfield," or something. _{[ She says this all very absently - she's too busy coloring in Squid Girl's hair. ]}

But I don't know how to get people out of Mayfield.

They don't need to know that!

And we'll find out how, soon, anyway. _{[ She finishes off her drawing by writing "Squid Girl, the messenger of the sea!" in cute lettering right below it. ]}

"Oh! So we just won't tell them! That makes sense."

[smilesmile as she looks at the drawing]

You have to give people what they want to get what you want. _{[ That's how she's been corrupting governments I mean establishing clean diplomatic relations in Oceania after all. She holds the drawing up for her to see. ]} That's how you do things on the surface world.

[Looks the drawing over thoughtfully.]

"Huh. And here I was just gonna invade."

_{[ Lowers the drawing a little. ]}

I was mad about the ocean getting polluted, and I thought that would be the best way to make people listen. But I didn't know there were so many people on the surface. I thought there would be maybe like a thousand or so?

There are better ways to make people listen to you, you know!

Yeah, that's what people have been saying. Actually, living here is the first time this many people have listened to what I have to say! There are so many nice people in this town!

If only there were more people like them in the world, huh? _{[ She puts the drawing of Heartcatch Pretty Squid and her cute lobster aside.

Exactly! I tell them I'm a country, but they won't believe me--or they don't want to believe me because teacher told them not to, and he's a meanie, and--and, and, a few countries think I'm one of them, but that's still not enough to get anyone to listen!
